Tirana International Airport (TIA) is 17km north. Rinas Express bus runs hourly for €4. Taxis take ~25 min.

One of the safest capitals in the Balkans. Normal city precautions apply. Albanians are famously warm and hospitable.
The city centre is highly walkable. Taxis are cheap — always agree on a fare first. Ride-hailing apps available.
April–June and September–October are ideal. Summers reach 35°C+. Winters are mild, uncrowded, and authentically local.
Stay in Blloku or the city centre for the best experience. Boutique hotels and apartments offer excellent value.

Yes. Tirana is considered one of the safer capitals in the Balkans. Petty crime is low, and Albanians are renowned for their hospitality. Standard city travel precautions are sufficient.
EU, UK, US, and most European citizens can enter Albania visa-free for up to 90 days. Always verify current entry requirements before travelling.
Albania uses the Albanian Lek (ALL). Euros are widely accepted in tourist areas. ATMs are plentiful and exchange offices offer competitive rates.
The Rinas Express bus (€4, hourly) connects the airport to the city centre in about 30 minutes. Taxis cost €20–25 — always agree the price before getting in.
Spring (April–June) and Autumn (September–October) offer the most pleasant weather. Summers are hot and increasingly popular; winters are mild with fewer tourists.
English is widely spoken among younger Albanians and in hospitality. Italian is also commonly understood. A few words of Albanian are warmly appreciated.
